Presentation

The Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm has been a staple in the audio world for many years. This closed-back headset, designed for the studio but also perfect for gaming and video editing, has established itself among both professionals and enthusiasts.

Often recommended by streamers, sound engineers, and even some pro players, it stands out for its comfort, sonic precision, and bulletproof robustness.

From the first minutes of listening, one thing is clear : this headset doesn't cheat. It reveals every detail with clarity, without artificially coloring the sound. Ideal for spotting a footstep… or a mixing error.

Gameplay & Experience

Although not specifically designed for gaming, the DT 770 Pro offers stunning stereo imaging. Games like Hellblade, PUBG, or Cyberpunk 2077 take on a whole new dimension.

Comfort is also a major strength : the velour ear pads, combined with well-distributed pressure, allow for multi-hour sessions without ear fatigue or discomfort.

During hundreds of hours of testing on Escape From Tarkov, every enemy shot and every distant bullet impact was clearly localizable, giving us a definite tactical advantage.

Benchmark & Performance

The Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro is a true pillar in the professional audio world, and these scores reflect its strengths unanimously praised by users and critics alike.

Its Audio Quality (18/20) is often described as "detailed and balanced," with "deep bass extension" and "natural mids." While some might find the highs a bit bright, this is often seen as an advantage for "critical monitoring," allowing one to detect the tiniest details. It also offers a "wide soundstage" for a closed-back headset, which is particularly appreciated for immersion and instrument separation.

Comfort (17/20) is another major asset. The "large circumaural soft velour ear pads" are known for wrapping around the ears without excessive pressure, allowing for "long listening sessions without fatigue." The adjustable headband also contributes to a personalized fit.

Regarding Sound Isolation (16/20), the DT 770 Pro, being a closed-back headset, offers "decent to effective" isolation. It blocks out high and mid-frequency noises well, making it ideal for studio environments or recording sessions where focusing on the sound is crucial. For maximum isolation, some users suggest replacing the velour pads with leather ones.

Finally, the Durability (17/20) of the DT 770 Pro is legendary. Its "rugged" design with "solid spring steel" components and quality materials makes it a headset "built to last." Numerous reviews highlight its resistance to intensive studio use and the easy availability of replacement parts, ensuring a long lifespan for this investment.

Verdict - Feedback from the Clan

The DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm is an exceptional headset, capable of satisfying both content creators and demanding gamers. Its neutral audio rendering, wide soundstage, and comfort place it well above many gaming headsets that are actually more expensive.

Be careful though : there’s no built-in mic, the cable is not detachable, and the design leans more towards studio than gaming. But if you are looking for an immersive and faithful sound experience, you are in the right place.

To remember : Players' words – what do users think of the DT 770 Pro ?

To go beyond specs and benchmarks, we spoke with two members of our Clan — Tox and Obli — both of whom have been using the DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm for several months. Their feedback is unanimous : an exceptional price-to-performance ratio, even compared to much pricier headsets.

« It’s the best value for money I’ve ever had. The comfort is insane, and it’s used in almost every professional radio station. »
— Tox

On his end, Obli brings an interesting perspective : before the DT, he was using a high-end planar magnetic headset — a technology without a traditional membrane, highly praised in audiophile circles. And yet :

« I don’t regret switching at all. The DT 770 is really clean for its price. And I’m coming from a planar that cost over €400, so I have a solid point of comparison. »
— Obli

They also mention some nuances. According to them, while the planar offers a more refined sound, the DT 770 Pro excels in responsiveness, especially in-game :

« On Tarkov, I was getting sounds before Obli and his planar... Who knows why ! »
— Tox

« Yeah, but my sounds were prettier. »
— Obli.

Another advantage of the DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm : no need for a dedicated amp. And compared to planars which can be expensive, fragile, or hard to maintain, the DT remains robust and accessible :

« I switched because of the cables : three of them failed. Too expensive to replace. With the DT, I’m at peace. »
— Tox

In short, for our two testers (who actually exist for once !), the DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm remains an obvious, versatile, and reliable choice, for both creation and competitive gaming.
