The Scent of Galactic Brake Fluid
The State of Play on February 12, 2026, just dropped a cool trailer, and for someone who grew up with Episode I : Racer on N64 or PC, it’s more than an announcement : it’s a resurrection !
Star Wars: Galactic Racer : The Return of the Pods
Sony Resurrects Our Childhood
Sony chose this February 12, 2026, to throw the Star Wars: Galactic Racer gameplay at us, and my inner child is currently screaming in my adult self’s ears. We are talking about Fuse Games at the helm, and they have decided to take us 20 years back, to where speed and crashes on every Star Wars planet made our glory days.
💾 Who remembers the nights spent on Episode I: Racer trying to beat Sebulba on Malastare ? The sound of overheating engines, the near-miss checkpoints... Another time...
Farewell to the Force, Hello to Scrap Metal
A Story of Revenge in the Outer Rim
We are in the Outer Rim, a territory where the New Republic is nothing but a distant bureaucratic memory. We play as Shade, a pilot with nothing to lose and everything to prove. The pitch ? An underground league, crime syndicates betting your life on a single turn, and a personal vendetta against the Bool family. It’s raw, it’s dirty, it smells like bending metal and… it actually smells pretty good.
🕹️ The game takes place in the Star Wars expanded universe, post-Empire period. Fuse Games promises a narrative with branching paths : your choices will have an impact on your progression and your reputation in the league.
Ben Quadinaros is Back (and he’s not here to mess around)
The trailer dropped a wink at the very end : Ben Quadinaros is in ! If you remember this pilot whose engines exploded on the starting line in 1999 (in The Phantom Menace), know that he’s back to take his revenge. Podracers, speeders, hoverbikes... the garage looks massive. We will be able to tinker with our machines alongside Hibi, our mechanic, to transform piles of scrap into track monsters capable of breaking the sound barrier at Mach 1.
In terms of feel, we find the speeder collisions and the free-fall jumps that we could already experience in Star Wars : Racer.
💡 Tip : According to early previews, pod customization will be central. Manage your credits wisely between speed upgrades and armor, as the Outer Rim circuits do not forgive piloting errors.
The Galactic League Awaits You
The game features a single-player campaign with branching paths (your choices matter, finally !) and a multiplayer mode for up to 12 pilots. It’s fierce PvP where your reputation will follow you like a shadow. A release on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC is announced for sometime in 2026. So, are we excited or what ??
And if you have memories of epic races on Episode I : Racer or other Star Wars games, feel free to talk about them in the comments right below !
