Future Games Show 2026 : My Personal Top Picks You Can't Miss

Following the spectacular kickoff two days ago with our Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live round-up, the momentum hasn't slowed down one bit. Last night hosted the highly anticipated Future Games Show 2026, and what an unforgettable stream ! I had the absolute pleasure of co-streaming and discussing it live with you thanks to an invitation from my good friend Zekkey on his channel. Massive thanks to him : make sure to follow the ZekkeyTV channel right here, as the community over there is truly awesome. With my 35 years of experience playing video games, dating back to the Amstrad CPC 464, I've seen thousands of titles come and go, and I'm sharing the ones here that reignited my core passion : standing out from the crowd with a firm hold on my radar for the months ahead !

Worms Galactic Tactics

The iconic franchise makes its triumphant return, with Team17 joining forces with Absolutely Games to disrupt our expectations. Say goodbye to the traditional 2D view and welcome a tactical isometric 3D turn-based roguelike ! The formula instantly brings back fond memories of intense XCOM battles while retaining the core DNA of the series : absurd voice lines, an over-the-top arsenal, a charming art style, and naturally, fully destructible environments.

I genuinely can't wait to get my hands on the controller for this one. Injecting this breath of fresh air into the franchise is a brilliant move. The developers have occasionally struggled to strike gold with certain previous releases, making this modern tactical direction a masterstroke.

🕹️ Release Date : 2027 | Platforms : PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2

The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival

Fans of sidescrolling pixel art brawlers are going to be thrilled with this announcement ! The title plays out as pure, impeccably executed fan service. We are treading the same awesome gameplay territory as Terminator 2D No Fate, applied directly to the gritty world of The Walking Dead. The excitement is immediate as we step into the boots of iconic characters : Rick, Michonne, Daryl, and even the terrifying Negan alongside his faithful Lucille !

🕹️ Release Date : September 18, 2026 | Platforms : PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch

Wolcen 2

The grand return of the French hack-and-slash franchise is officially here ! I hold incredible memories from the original title, having beaten it twice alongside close friends. The sheer scale of development work here is astounding. This franchise deserves equal standing next to giants like Diablo or Path of Exile, offering staggering visual fidelity and extraordinarily fluid combat. The lore feels deeply compelling, paired with a wildly satisfying mechanic : transforming into an unstoppable hellish demon to wipe the entire screen once your rage meter tops out. Bring it on !

💾 Wolcen stands as that legendary French classic that kept me glued to my monitor for dozens of hours with buddies back during its beta phase. It truly deserves this brand-new lease on life.

🕹️ Release Date : 2027 (Early Access) | Platforms : PC (Steam)

Serious Sam: Shatterverse

I previously mentioned this title with huge enthusiasm during our PC Gaming Show 2026 recap. Serious Sam is back in full force ! This reveal will hit the nostalgic sweet spot for anyone who lived through the golden era of high-octane late 90s FPS classics, evoking the adrenaline of Quake or UT2004. It moves at breakneck speeds, hits like a truck, explodes across the screen, and honestly, feeling that raw adrenaline rush once again feels fantastic !

🕹️ Release Date : August 31, 2026 | Platforms : PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), PS5, Xbox Series

Graveyard Keeper II

We are talking about a franchise that won the hearts of players right from its initial launch. In fact, I wrote a heartfelt breakdown on the original Graveyard Keeper. Get ready to jump back into this cozy world laced with mischievous dark humor. You will once again manage your cemetery, bury bodies, occasionally feast on a few innards along the way, assemble a tiny army of undead minions, and craft your personal macabre paradise. The wait until September is going to be tough !

🕹️ Release Date : September 22, 2026 | Platforms : PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch

Alkimya: House of Wisdom

Here is a pitch boasting enormous atmospheric potential. Built on Unreal Engine 5, this first-person survival horror game drops us straight into 1258 during the Siege of Baghdad by Mongol forces. You play as Yusuf, a master alchemist desperately searching for a legendary cure called the Iksyr to save his dying daughter inside the House of Wisdom, the burning grand library of the city.

The game features an interconnected world design packed with shortcuts, Golden Age mechanisms, and locked pathways. Expect palpable tension with unkillable stalker enemies that you must evade using environmental hazards. Combat centers heavily around alchemy : you will craft flasks to ignite, blind, or dissolve your foes while surviving cosmic horrors stirring deep beneath the city streets. A fascinating blend of historical backdrop and pure horror !

A survival horror reimagining set in besieged medieval Baghdad : rarely has a premise felt this unique and promising from a single trailer alone.

🕹️ Release Date : TBA | Platforms : PC (Steam and Epic), PS5

Star Trek: Outposts Unknown

My lifelong love for the Star Trek universe runs deep, especially for the legacy series and iconic gaming classics like Star Trek 25th Anniversary and Star Trek Judgement Rites (which I covered with deep nostalgia in our Top 5 1990-1995 PC Point & Click list). The franchise has historically struggled to solidify its footing in modern video games, often weighed down by slow pacing, incomplete features, or a lack of immersive voice acting.

I touched upon this title in my PC Gaming Show roundup. This project leans into base management and outpost construction. As a dedicated Trekkie myself, I am keeping my fingers crossed for a resounding victory here. New gameplay reveals a central hub structure from which we deploy missions into neighboring star systems. While visual pacing still feels slightly measured, I put my full trust in a deeply captivating storyline to elevate the whole experience. As always, I recommend watching a few Twitch streams before pulling the trigger on a purchase !

🕹️ Release Date : October 20, 2026 | Platforms : PC (Steam)

The Journey Home

Every once in a while, stepping away from gunfire, roaring engines, and deafening explosions to lose oneself in a purely poetic journey becomes essential. That is precisely what The Journey Home delivers : an immersive side-scrolling experience crafted with immense passion by a husband-and-wife development duo, where narrative depth reaches stellar heights thanks to the co-creator's background as a bestselling author.

The game invites players to navigate a world in continuous temporal and physical shift. You will journey across life's ages, from youth to old age and back again. Gameplay promises an ethereal feel, letting you harness telekinesis or glide alongside glowing jellyfish and spectral creatures. This project completely spellbound me, so much so that I will be playing the demo live with you over on the LittleBigCampus Twitch channel !

🕹️ Release Date : Coming Soon | Platforms : PC (Steam)

We Were Here Tomorrow

We are stepping onto familiar ground here. Having played through the entire We Were Here franchise, this brand-new entry went straight onto my wishlist. The trailer features real YouTubers to highlight gameplay (a marketing choice that slightly pulls you out of the immersion), but the core loop remains completely intact : asymmetric walkie-talkie communication, brain-twisting puzzles, and essential teamwork.

This new chapter shifts away from the oppressive, eerie atmosphere of previous titles to offer brighter, far more open environments with vibrant color palettes and polished visual design. It represents an intriguing artistic evolution, and I am super curious to see how this fresh backdrop complements the puzzle-solving mechanics.

🕹️ Release Date : October 2026 | Platforms : PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series

Last Ditch Effort

This is the exact game that instantly grabbed Zekkey's attention last night, and his hype is completely justified ! We are looking at a gritty brawler driven by dark anime aesthetics, enhanced by pixel art that looks like a stunning visual work of art. Details are still sparse and mystery surrounds the project, yet its striking visual identity guarantees a high-profile spot in our Steam libraries.

🕹️ Release Date : 2027 | Platforms : PC (Steam)

Kingdom III : Rising Realms

The Kingdom series has achieved undeniable success since its very first steps. Here we return to that fabulous side-scrolling formula where your goal is to relentlessly fortify your strongholds, recruit a sturdy army, and seal demonic portals threatening your land. Hundreds of hostile creatures swarm your realm once night falls, creating an endlessly addictive gameplay loop that keeps you hooked for hours, especially with co-op integrated. An absolute winner you need to experience !

🕹️ Release Date : TBA | Platforms : PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2

Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern

Tavern management simulation is currently booming, and now the talented team at Dotemu steps in to merge the genre with the legendary D&D license. The visual atmosphere feels cozy and inviting, capturing the bustling warmth of a lively common room. You are tasked with building a welcoming haven for adventurers across Faerûn.

Forget risking your life inside dark dungeons : send glory-seeking heroes into every corner of the Dales to gather treasures and rare magical ingredients. You will then transform mimic tongues and giant crab claws into mouth-watering signature dishes. You must hire staff, optimize your dining hall, and listen to thrilling tales from passing heroes to build the most famous tavern in the realm !

🕹️ Release Date : Early 2027 | Platforms : PC (Steam)

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster

Let's close things out in grand fashion with this 2D action platformer set in the dark depths of the Warhammer universe. The trailer delivers substantial gameplay footage : we take control of a Skaven assassin, navigating a macabre visual style heavily reminiscent of Darkest Dungeon. The heavy, captivating lore inherent to the franchise handles the rest. A resounding yes for fans of the genre !

🕹️ Release Date : 2027 | Platforms : PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2

Final Thoughts : See You Tonight !

Naturally, several other titles were featured during the show, but from my perspective, a significant portion lacked true originality. Between an overabundance of zombie games, generic FPS titles that feel cast from the exact same mold, and projects that didn't feel polished enough to warrant a deep dive, I chose to focus strictly on what mattered. If you want to check out our live co-stream VOD with all our raw reactions, I warmly invite you to watch the video directly on the ZekkeyTV channel !

Once again, some of these newly revealed games are going to demand serious system hardware. If you are planning a PC memory upgrade, I linked the best current deal for a 32GB RAM kit.

This chapter of the Future Games Show comes to a close for now. We caught a glimpse of fantastic upcoming titles, and we will be back very soon to break them down together. Stay tuned ! Meanwhile, tonight's schedule promises to be particularly thrilling :

  • 8:00 PM : Tune in for Gamescom Awesome Indies, perfect for discovering creative indie standouts.
  • 9:00 PM sharp : For GTA 6 enthusiasts with a Netflix subscription, a full presentation is scheduled !
