Summer Game Fest 2026 : My Personal Selection of Highly Anticipated Games

We wrap up our Summer Game Fest 2026 coverage with a slightly different article. After the PC Gaming Show, the June State of Play, the Nintendo Direct and the Xbox Showcase, here is my truly personal list : the games we got news about during the season and that I, realistically, am eagerly waiting for. Fasten your seatbelts, here we go...

Chronicles : Medieval : The Masterpiece That Almost Dropped My Jaw

I saw the trailer a few months ago, and honestly... my jaw almost dropped. It is GORGEOUS and makes you want to dive right in. A visual quality reminiscent of Kingdom Come Deliverance, with a scale that feels much vaster in combat, putting a massive number of soldiers on screen at once.

Behind Chronicles : Medieval stands Raw Power Games, a studio of about a hundred industry veterans who worked on The Witcher 3, Assassin's Creed, Red Dead Redemption 2, Cyberpunk 2077 or even GTA. Suffice to say the pedigree is absolutely there. The game is powered by Unreal Engine 5 paired with their own proprietary technology called Asgard.

For those who might have missed it, Chronicles : Medieval is a sandbox strategy game set during the Hundred Years' War. Managing fiefdoms, leading battles, leveling up your character. During Summer Game Fest, a new trailer narrated by Lars Mikkelsen (Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars, or The Witcher) was revealed. He plays Johannes Gutenberg as the narrator of your adventure. The game empowers you to create your own tale across a massive campaign map : strategy, attacks, defenses, troop formations, everything will be in your hands. And the morale of your soldiers will directly impact the outcome of the battles. Up to 2,000 bodies on screen simultaneously during clashes. There, I said it.

No way I am missing this one. We will talk about it again on LBC, I promise.

Star Wars : Zero Company : Literally Made For Me

I had already talked about it in detail in our dedicated article on Star Wars : Zero Company, it is a game I am truly looking forward to. Fan of the XCOM franchise, fan of Star Wars : this game is literally made for me, barring any nasty surprises. From what I can see, the build will deeply capture the spirit of XCOM 2, with destructible environments, characters customizable down to the fingertips, and a rather well-crafted story.

And the brand-new trailer gave us an appearance by Anakin Skywalker. It only fuels the hype. I cannot wait to know more about the exact release date.

Grounded 2 : Finally on PlayStation, Featuring a Huge Update

Great news for PlayStation players : Grounded 2 lands on PS5 on August 11, 2026, alongside a major update available on all platforms, titled "Into The Abyss". According to the trailer, it sends our miniaturized kids underwater. We are eager to see how it plays out.

Personally, I have not tried it on PC yet. I played the first one, multiple times, I confess, but I jumped in so early that the backyard was not even finished yet. I watched the new sections get installed update after update. This time, I am waiting for the finished game. But honestly, I cannot wait.

Star Wars : Galactic Racer : The Return of Podracing

Same story : I devoted a full article to Star Wars : Galactic Racer, and Summer Game Fest served up a new trailer, a "story trailer" this time. We discover Darius Pax, the founder of the Galactic League, who recruits a mysterious pilot named Shade to dethrone the reigning champion Kestar Bool, as talented as he is ruthless. A rivalry that will define the future of the league, with a dash of legendary podracing thrown into the mix.

Sands : Raiders of Sophie : Mobile Base, Tight Team, Sounds Promising

Another game I am particularly looking forward to, and whose broad strokes I had already outlined in our Sands : Raiders of Sophie article. The new trailer confirms what the first one announced : it is going to be heavy-hitting, you will have to move across the map constantly, truly play as a tight-knit team, and if all conditions are met, things should go well.

For those who do not know it yet : imagine a mix of Rust, Ark or Conan Exiles, but with an entirely mobile base, like in the movie Mortal Engines. Nomadic survival in a hostile desert, with your rolling fortress as your only anchor. A concept that is still too rare in video games.

TMNT : The Last Ronin : Lighting a Small Spark

This one, I did not know at all before the trailer dropped. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles : The Last Ronin is originally a comic book published by IDW Publishing, co-written by Kevin Eastman (the original creator of TMNT) and Tom Waltz. The story is simple in its brutality : three Turtles are dead. Same goes for Splinter. So only one remains, seeking to avenge his family and put an end to the reign of the Foot clan, now masters of New York. For a good part of the story, the Last Ronin's identity remains intentionally hidden. And the comic book was a massive hit, specifically for this intense tension.

And now, we have a game. Developed by PlatinumGames (Bayonetta, Nier : Automata, but also a TMNT in 2016 that failed to convince) and published by the brand new Paramount Games Studio. The trailer revealed at Summer Game Fest does not show much yet, just CGI in a dark sewer environment and a few cryptic images. But it still sparked a little flame. PlatinumGames working on material as solid as The Last Ronin really deserves that we keep a close eye on it. No release date for now, PC and consoles confirmed.
